Chief Marketing Officer

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is responsible for overseeing marketing initiatives within the Company. The CMO will work to develop areas such as, planning, development and execution of the Company’s marketing and business development strategies, sales management, distribution channels, marketing communications, pricing, market research and customer service.

Reporting directly to Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Principal Officer, the primary responsibilities of the CFO will be:

  1. Developing of and recommending to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) the long term strategy, business plans and annual operating budgets; and establishing proper internal monitoring and control systems and procedures;
  2. Coordinating and preparing financial related proposals, reports and other submissions for consideration by the Board.
  3. Ensuring continuous achievement of the Company’s financial and operating goals and objectives.
  4. Develop and install sound accounting and financial management procedures aimed at improving financial performance and effective control and custody of the company’s assets.
  5. Advise the CEO on all financial matters affecting the company
  6. Ensure tax and financial compliance of statutory requirements
  7. Provide professional leadership in the development and implementation of financial plans and budgets in order to ensure efficient and cost effective provision of services.
  8. Establish proper record of all company liabilities ie type, status and risk implications.
  9.  Any other responsibilities as may be necessary to achieve the Corporation’s objectives.


Key Competencies:

  1. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of insurance Industry including broad knowledge of local and international standards.  
  2. Extensive knowledge of financial management
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of international accounting standards including financial forecasting and monitoring of budgets
  4. Strong communication skills including ability to develop proposals, position papers as well as write reports
  5. Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in an environment conducive to continuous learning, creativity and innovation
  6. Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook express including financial packages
  7. Ability to use planning tools i.e. balanced scorecards, Dashboards and financial statement ratio analysis to communicate both the company’s expected and actual financial performance.
  8. A strategic thinker with an eye for detail and opportunity
  9. Have strong Business Acumen


Key Qualifications and experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Finance) from a recognized university or related field
  2. Master’s degree in a relevant field  is an added advantage
  3. Be a holder of CPA (K) or ACCA
  4. Minimum of twelve (12) years relevant experience, five (5) of which should be at senior level, preferably at CFO level.
  5. Membership to relevant professional body
